Job summary

ERGO Technology & Services S.A. (ET&S), part of Munich Re and ERGO Group, seeks a Software Engineer specializing in Python and Azure to build robust backend infrastructure for AI solutions.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists and DevOps to deploy scalable, secure foundations for production-ready applications in an Azure environment. You will design APIs, implement microservices, ensure governance and security, and participate in Agile teams delivering high-quality software.

Qualifications

About the role

As a Software Engineer specializing in Python and Cloud technologies, you will be the driving force behind developing and deploying robust backend infrastructure for our cutting-edge AI solutions within the Azure ecosystem. Collaborating closely with Data Scientists, AI Engineers, and DevOps, you will build the scalable, secure, and high-performing foundations needed to integrate AI-driven capabilities into our business applications. Your deep expertise in Python software engineering and Azure cloud services will be crucial in operationalizing these models and realizing this vision.

How you will get the job done

• building and maintaining scalable APIs and microservices in Python to efficiently serve data and AI/ML-based solutions to customers
• designing, developing, and deploying robust backend applications and infrastructure using Azure services
• streamlining model operationalization and building the backend infrastructure required for fast and reliable model inference
• writing and maintaining unit tests, ensuring robust test coverage, and enforcing strict Python coding best practices (clean code, maintainability, and performance optimization)
• working closely with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to bridge the gap between model creation and production-ready enterprise solutions
• ensuring all solutions adhere to security, development, and governance standards
• working in Agile/Scrum teams to deliver high-quality applications on schedule

Skills and experience you will need

• fluency in English
• deep expertise in Python code development, in strict compliance with clean code practices, design patterns, and industry standards
• strong hands-on experience with the Azure cloud platform and its core compute, networking, and storage services (e.g., Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory)
• proven, extensive experience in developing, securing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices
• familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for deploying scalable applications
• solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices within the Azure DevOps environment
• ability to thrive in an agile environment and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Nice to have

• understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Learning technologies
• hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, and Cognitive Services
• experience with tools like MLflow and Databricks for managing the machine learning lifecycle
• experience working with vector databases for advanced search and retrieval
• practical experience with AI-specific security measures and model governance
