Job summary

Google Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Android Launcher team in Kraków. The role focuses on driving feature development, performance improvements, and architectural modernization for the Android Overview experience, while mentoring junior engineers.

The candidate should have a strong background in data structures and algorithms and hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related fields. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and launch new features for the Android Overview experience, such as enhanced drag and drop, pagination, and multi-display support.
• Analyze and improve the performance, responsiveness, and memory footprint of Overview features within Launcher.
• Contribute to the ongoing architectural modernization of Launcher, including adopting MVVM and integrating Jetpack Compose for UI development.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and engineers across Launcher and Android Platform to define and build multitasking solutions.
• Develop and improve testing infrastructure and practices to ensure the stability and quality of Overview features, including addressing test flakiness.
