Job description

Job Description: At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward. We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role

Every Remitly transfer, from any product, in any market, ends the same way: money has to actually move. The Global Money Movement team builds and maintains the platform that customer‑facing product lines use to move money between our customers and their recipients across borders, through a broad network of external banking and payment partners. As a Software Development Engineer II on the Money Movement team in Krakow, you will build the services that orchestrate those flows: the APIs that product lines call to move money, the integrations with external partners that execute the movement, and the reporting that keeps our financial systems correct. This is real integration work with external banking and payment partners, the kind engineers rarely get to do at this level. You will work closely with stakeholders across time zones, designing and implementing effective solutions with a strong focus on customer impact. We have no dedicated QA, so you own the quality and operational health of what you ship. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager, based in Poland. You will work on a platform the whole company builds on: decisions you make affect every product line, not just one. You will work alongside experienced technical leadership, with room to learn and real ownership from day one, in a global and diverse environment with cross‑timezone collaboration and travel opportunities. And you will do real integrations with external banking and payment partners, exposure that is rare in typical backend roles at this level.

You Will
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
  • Integrate with external banking and payment partners and keep those integrations healthy in production
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across time zones to identify and prioritize project requirements, and develop solutions to meet business needs
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, technical specifications, and testing plans
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and industry trends
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing fixes
  • Mentor more junior engineers and participate in interviewing
  • Support the Money Movement global team through a rotating on‑call schedule
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
You Have
  • A BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a software developer
  • Proficiency in a general purpose language such as Java/Kotlin or Golang
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
  • Proficiency in an RDBMS like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
  • Proven experience and understanding of software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
  • Comfort using AI tools across the development lifecycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent English on B2 level or higher
