Job summary

Aon plc in Kraków is seeking a SM&CR Specialist to support UK supervised businesses in meeting SM&CR requirements, operating and improving controls, procedures and systems. You will be the lead administrator of the SM&CR management system and a key contact for Fitness & Propriety activity.

The role sits in the UK Risk & Compliance team, based in Kraków, with services across all UK regulated entities. Hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant industry experience with strong English skills (minimum B2+/C1).
  • Extensive knowledge of SM&CR regulation and its implementation in businesses.
  • Strong analytical skills to review situations, data and documents to provide clear opinions and recommendations.
  • Dynamic, proactive and diplomatic, with the ability to influence decision-making at management level.
  • A collaborative team player who understands Aon’s businesses and organisational structure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records for Aon UK’s Senior Manager and Certified populations (including overseas staff where relevant).
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of FCA Directory notifications.
  • Operate the annual Fitness & Propriety (F&P) process for Senior Manager and Certified populations and advise on F&P matters.
  • Act as principal contact for HR Global Operations to support background checks and F&P assessments.
  • Maintain, review and improve SM&CR processes and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of SM&CR system supplier relationship and coordinate with IT relationship owners to resolve issues.
  • Lead administrator for the SM&CR system, including user access management and system changes.
  • Promote understanding and adoption of SM&CR requirements across the business.

SM&CR Specialist – UK Risk & Compliance (Krakow)

What the day will look like

In this role, you will support Aon’s UK supervised businesses in meeting SM&CR requirements by operating and improving SM&CR controls, procedures and systems. You will be the lead administrator of the SM&CR management system and a key point of contact for Fitness & Propriety (F&P) activity and queries. The role is part of the Aon UK Risk & Compliance (R&C) team, based in Krakow, and provides services across all UK regulated entities.

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
  • Working as part of the SM&CR team to maintain accurate records for Aon UK’s Senior Manager and Certified populations (including overseas staff where relevant).
  • Supervising the accuracy and timeliness of Aon UK’s FCA Directory notifications.
  • Operating the annual Fitness & Propriety (F&P) process for Senior Manager and Certified populations and acting as an advisor to the SM&CR team on F&P matters.
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for queries from HR Global Operations to support background checks and F&P assessments.
  • Helping to maintain, review and improve Aon UK’s SM&CR processes and procedures.
  • Providing day‑to‑day oversight of the SM&CR system supplier relationship, working with IT relationship owners to resolve or raise service issues.
  • Serving as lead administrator for the SM&CR system, including user access management, system changes in line with the contract, and handling change requests with the supplier.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the SM&CR team, promoting good understanding and adoption of SM&CR requirements across the business.

  • Extensive knowledge of SM&CR regulation and its implementation in businesses, and a good understanding of the UK regulatory environment with experience in regulatory or compliance‑related roles.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review situations, data and documents to provide clear opinions and recommendations; confident communicating, educating and training others, including face‑to‑face.
  • Dynamic, proactive and diplomatic, with the ability to influence decision‑making at management level, encourage action and act as a trusted partner to collaborators.
  • A collaborative team player who brings energy and enthusiasm to the role, and ideally an understanding of Aon’s businesses and organisational structure or the ability to build this quickly.
