- Define general testing and validation practices and processes.
- Design, develop, and implement testing and validation plans and procedures for individual artifacts, considering functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Champion the implementation of test cases, contributing tests when needed, and ensuring these become part of the team’s processes. These include functional, regression, system, and performance tests, using manual and/or automated techniques as required.
- Ensure tests are conducted, either through automated solutions or by established procedures.
- Coordinate testing and validation for artifact qualification, quality assurance, and release.
- Interact with colleagues across projects to unblock issues or reach consensus on technical topics.
- Work with Software Development Teams to integrate testing into all steps of the Software development lifecycle, identifying opportunities for earlier testing.
- Collaborate to establish processes and best practices, identify opportunities for automation, and propose and implement the tools and infrastructure that support them.
- Work with Software Operations teams to implement, evolve, and maintain tooling that supports the established processes.
- Work with the IT department to provision, administer, and monitor the infrastructure needed to support testing and validation tools, and to make decisions about purchasing needed external products.
- Work with Product teams and the CTO office to define testing and validation plans based on functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Work with Hardware teams to unify testing and validation infrastructure within the company, contributing to HW/SW co‑validation and earlier integration efforts.
- Work with product, program, strategy, corporate and other teams to provide tools that give visibility into key metrics of software artifact quality and testing processes, enabling strategic decisions and process improvements.
- Work with external companies that provide testing and validation services, serving as the interface with third‑party leaders.
- Collaborate with colleagues through code reviews, bug triaging, design documents, and other activities.
- Contribute to shared team responsibilities (CI failure triaging, documentation, code fixes, rotations, etc.).
