Job summary

Sopra Steria Polska seeks a Senior UNIX Automation Engineer to join the team responsible for automating and managing a large-scale Unix/Linux infrastructure. You will design, deploy, test, and maintain automation platforms, improving efficiency and reliability across thousands of servers.

The role requires hands-on expertise with Ansible, AAP, Red Hat Satellite, CFEngine, and CI/CD practices, with willingness to travel and work from Katowice. EU citizenship is noted as a requirement.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux/Unix system administration experience, including storage management (LVM, filesystems, NFS).
• Hands-on expertise with Ansible, AAP (Ansible Tower/AWX), Red Hat Satellite, EfficientIP, Python, Bash, GitLab, and CFEngine.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies and CI/CD principles and practices.
• Proven background in automation engineering, system administration, or infrastructure engineering within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in agile and cross-functional teams.
• Being open to occasional business trips abroad and visits in our office in Katowice.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain automation solutions for managing large-scale Unix/Linux environments.
• Build and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Ansible, AAP, GitLab, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Provide 3rd-level support for automation platforms and Unix systems, troubleshooting complex issues.
• Develop and optimize automated workflows to streamline deployment, configuration, orchestration, and operations.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and operations teams to ensure reliable, scalable infrastructure services.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, automation standards, and best practices.
