Job summary

GitLab Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and own the Duo CLI features, mainly in TypeScript, across frontend and backend, with a focus on CLI design and reliable performance. This role is fully remote and based in Poland.

You’ll collaborate across Developer Clients, contribute to IDE extensions in Kotlin or TypeScript, mentor teammates, and influence architectural direction. The position offers strong focus on AI-enabled workflows and a high-performance, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and interest in CLI design.
• Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or other developer-facing tooling.
• Experience owning technical problems end to end and guiding others.
• Clear written and spoken English communication in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Alignment with GitLab's values and inclusive culture.
• Experience with IDE extension development (JetBrains Kotlin or VS Code) and familiarity with LSP is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition with Product through implementation and rollout.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with careful command/flag design and output formatting.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI and reduce technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineers to align technical decisions with GitLab's strategy.
• Provide code reviews and mentorship to champion product quality and developer experience.
• Contribute to IDE extension work when useful across JetBrains and VS Code ecosystems.
