Job summary

Synopsys is seeking a senior thermal design engineer to lead pre-sales efforts in power electronics across EMEA. You will run discovery sessions, deliver product demos, and perform detailed thermal simulations for e-motors, batteries, and fuel cells using Ansys tools.

You will mentor engineers, translate customer needs into actionable strategies, and help shape product features through field feedback. You will partner with marketing and product teams to create technical content, including

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Power, or Material Science Engineering with 4+ years of experience in engineering software.
• Hands-on experience with multiple Ansys thermal products including Discovery, Fluent, Icepak, plus thermal stress in Mechanical.
• Solid grounding in heat transfer fundamentals and thermal management of power electronics.
• Experience with power electronics hardware like e-motors, batteries, fuel cells, and inverters.
• Scripting/automation in Python, IronPython, C++, or similar for simulation workflows.
• Fluent English, willing to travel within EMEA up to 25%.
• Industry experience in power electronics across automotive, e-mobility, aerospace, energy, industrial sectors; German/French a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-sales engagements across EMEA for power electronics accounts, including discovery, demos, benchmarks, and proofs of concept.
• Execute detailed thermal simulations on e-motors, batteries, fuel cells, and inverters using Ansys tools and coupled thermal-structural workflows.
• Translate customer requirements into actionable simulation strategies and map workflows to business outcomes.
• Mentor application engineers and contribute to sales enablement content that grows pipeline.
• Collaborate with product development to translate field feedback into new product features across the thermal portfolio.
• Test pre-release thermal software on real industrial problems and provide structured feedback to engineering teams.
• Create technical content with field and product marketing to generate leads and support the sales cycle.
