Job summary

Steward is seeking an Experienced Symfony Developer to join our team and own production systems end-to-end. You will work on repayment schedules, amortization logic, and performance improvements in a mature financial codebase.

StrongFintech experience with Dwolla/Stripe/Plaid is highly valued as you refactor legacy patterns while ensuring secure handling of ACH transfers. You should be comfortable overlapping US Pacific Time for meetings and be self-directed, capable of reading unfamiliar code

Qualifications

6+ years of professional PHP experience with at least 3+ years in Symfony.
Experience owning production systems end-to-end, not just contributing tickets.
Fintech/payments exposure and comfort with financial/monetary calculations.
Able to navigate a 10-year-old codebase without a map.
Overlap with US Pacific Time for meetings and real-time communication.
Self-directed, able to read unfamiliar code and execute with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

Repayment schedules & amortization logic, including interest calculations and ledgers.
Performance improvements and N+1 fixes in a 10-year-old codebase.
Security review around financial operations and ACH transfers.
Incremental refactoring of legacy patterns.
