Job summary

BEC Financial Technologies in Warsaw Poland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to support and evolve our CRA data products and Overdraft management solution. You will join a bilingual engineering team co-located in Warsaw and Roskilde, with occasional travel to Denmark and a hybrid work model allowing up to 8 remote days per month.

Qualifications

• Have several years of proven experience as software engineer in the financial industry.
• Strong experience with Java (version 17 or newer) and Spring Boot.
• Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and JDBC.
• Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in architecture and design discussions for future solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
• Develop and support Java batch ETL processes replacing legacy BI/Informatica jobs.
• Design and implement unit, integration, and API tests (e.g., Postman).
• Maintain and enhance APIs delivering rating- and overdraft-related data.
• Optimize database queries and collaborate with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
• Manage and deploy applications using Kubernetes and Helm.
• Monitor observability using Elastic Stack (ELK, APM).

This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw and you will join our Customer Rating & Analytics team (CRA) which is part of the regulatory Reporting Solutions (RS) domain. For almost two decades CRA has developed systems that assist the banks in ensuring compliance throughout their credit journey. This includes Customer Rating data, Customer Accountings and Rating models.

Senior Software Engineer (Java)

The position as Senior Software Engineer (Java) offers a unique opportunity to join us in supporting the existing systems and be a part of the next steps in our evolution by:

• Enable the Data Tech Transformation by delivering relevant and accurate Data Products
• Building a new and converged Overdraft management solution

The team is co-located in Roskilde, Denmark and Warsaw, Poland. so occasional trips to Denmark to meet the team and plan activities may be part of the role.

At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also have the flexibility to work remotely up to 8 days per month.

Primary tasks and responsibilities include:

• Participating in architecture and technical system design discussions, helping shape future solutions
• Design and write clean, maintainable, and high-quality code following best practices
• Developing and supporting Java batch solutions for Extract-Transform and Load (EtL) processes, replacing legacy BI/Informatica jobs
• Designing and implementing unit, integration, and API tests (e.g, using Postman)
• Maintaining and enhancing APIs that provide rating- and overdraft-related data
• Optimizing and improving performance of queries in relational databases
• Working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) to ensure smooth delivery processes
• Managing and deploying applications using Kubernetes and Helm
• Monitoring and improving application observability using the Elastic Stack (ELK, APM)

To succeed you will:

• Have several years of proven experience as software engineer in the financial industry.
• Be a true team player by supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, taking responsibility and actively participating in team activities
• Strong experience with Java (version 17 or newer)
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot
• Experience with Hibernate / JPA
• Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and development

• Experience working with Kafka
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
• Fluency in English is required
