Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help manage the infrastructure platform and tooling that power Akamai's products and services.

You will enhance automation, reliability, and security across Linux, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments. You will contribute to technical decisions, improve existing solutions, and design scalable automation to support production operations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a similar technical role.
• Strong Linux administration skills with production infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation tools.
• Experience operating Kubernetes clusters and troubleshooting containerized environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD systems and artifact management workflows.
• Knowledge of secrets management or PKI solutions.
• Scripting or programming skills in Python or Bash, focused on automation.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and resolve incidents to meet SLAs.

A Senior Site Reliability Engineer focuses on infrastructure platforms and automation solutions for system management and operations. Responsibilities include contributing to technical decisions, enhancing existing solutions, and creating automation to improve efficiency, reliability, and security in infrastructure operations.

• Developing and maintaining infrastructure automation and configuration management solutions to manage systems consistently at scale.
• Managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, including lifecycle management, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Improving CI/CD pipelines, software delivery workflows, and artifact management processes.
• Maintaining solutions for secrets management, certificate lifecycle management, and PKI.
• Automating repetitive operational tasks through scripting, reusable tooling, and standardized workflows.
• Troubleshooting complex issues across Linux systems, infrastructure services, and Kubernetes environments, identifying root causes and implementing lasting solutions.
• Improving the reliability, security, and maintainability of the infrastructure platform in collaboration with other engineering teams.

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have significant experience in Site Reliability Engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Demonstrate expertise in Linux administration and experience overseeing production infrastructure effectively.
• Have hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools.
• Have experience operating Kubernetes clusters and troubleshooting containerized environments.
• Have experience with CI/CD systems and an understanding of software build, delivery, and artifact management workflows.
• Have knowledge of secrets management, certificate management, or PKI solutions.
• Have scripting or programming skills in Python, Bash, or a similar language, with a focus on automation.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and resolve incidents to maintain service-level objectives and agreements.
