Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Site Reliability Engineering to lead a team responsible for reliability across the Akamai Inference Platform.

You will partner with product engineering to embed reliability into fast-moving AI solutions and oversee multi-node GPU clusters and serverless inference for global-scale performance. You will drive SRE practices, capacity planning, fault management, and observability while shaping hiring and interview processes for SRE roles.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in SRE/Platform Engineering leadership.
• Experience building reliability into AI/ML infrastructure.
• Proven ability to define and drive SRE metrics, runbooks and capacity planning.

As Manager, Site Reliability Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for reliability across Akamai Inference Platform. In this leadership role, you will partner directly with product engineering teams to embed reliability into fast-moving products. Partner with the best

As Manager, lead the team ensuring reliability for Akamai's Inference compute and platform services. Oversee hiring strategy, candidate evaluation, and interview coordination for SRE roles. Partner with product engineering teams to integrate reliability into rapidly evolving products. This role combines leadership with direct involvement in building and strengthening the team.

As a Manager of SRE, you will be accountable for:

• Leading, mentoring, and guiding an existing team of skilled SREs while fostering growth and promoting best practices across the organization.
• Implementing and refining SRE practices, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, capacity planning, fault management, and comprehensive observability strategies for monitoring.
• Championing and enforcing the Operational Readiness Review process for components while establishing quality gates and creating comprehensive runbooks.

• Lead SRE, Systems, or Platform Engineering teams in cloud environments with demonstrated experience in engineering management during growth periods.
• Develop expertise in SRE methodologies, including SLOs and error budgets, while building or maintaining observability platforms for distributed systems.
• Have direct experience defining and running Operational Readiness Reviews or Production Readiness Reviews to validate system stability, monitoring, and failover capabilities before production launch.
• Understand AI infrastructure, serverless inference workflows, and manage multi-node GPU clusters effectively for optimized performance and scalability.
• Demonstrate ability to implement automation initiatives, reducing repetitive tasks while enhancing operational workflows and infrastructure efficiency effectively.
• Collaborate effectively with product teams and architects, ensuring communication supports system reliability while maintaining development efficiency and adaptability.
