Job summary

Bitcoin.com is building a new Rust-based product from the ground up. You will design core services, APIs, and data models while shaping architecture during early stages of a distributed system.

You’ll own pieces end-to-end, including on-call incident response, and collaborate with product and design to translate requirements into scalable solutions. The role emphasizes setting coding standards, mentoring engineers, and making architecture decisions as the product foundations are laid.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience; ownership of production systems.
• Strong Rust, Go, Java or Kotlin; production in Rust is a must.
• Experience designing REST APIs at scale; contracts and versioning matter.
• Deep experience with AWS or equivalent, containers, and CI/CD.
• Fluent with AI coding tools like Claude Code; good judgment on outputs.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Clear written and verbal English; self-driven work style.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core services behind the product: APIs, data models, integrations, and architectural calls.
• Own significant pieces of the product end-to-end, including on-call ownership and incident response.
• Partner with Product and Design to shape requirements and push back when needed.
• Set the technical standard for the codebase; maintainability and mentorship.
• Drive architecture and technical decisions; balance long-term vs immediate costs.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar on testing, instrumentation, and code quality.
