Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to lead development activities in transformer technology, shaping next‑gen grids. You will drive EMI/EMC design, perform advanced simulations, and coordinate prototyping with global teams to ensure robust, market-ready solutions.

The role requires strong experience in transformer design, insulation systems, thermal management, and cross‑functional collaboration, with English as a primary communication language.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Several years of experience in transformer design and product development within an industrial environment.
• Strong technical background in transformer design, insulation systems (air, solid, liquid), thermal performance and cooling, FEM simulation, and testing.
• Proven ability to lead technical activities and deliver results in cross-functional and international environments.
• Experience with design of Medium Frequency Transformers is a plus.
• Experience with transformer transient analysis, modelling and simulation is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication (in English), and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work packages and key development activities within global R&D projects.
• Propose innovative concepts and perform advanced simulations in electromagnetic design and optimization of distribution, BESS and medium frequency transformers.
• Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products by interacting with engineering and manufacturing departments globally.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, innovation initiatives, and continuous product improvement.
• Collaborate in global team settings, sharing your technical expertise to support colleagues in achieving timely and high-quality results.
• Lead intellectual property and risk management activities in R&D.
• Provide technical support to factories, customers and sales teams.
