Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Design Engineer for the Global Product Care team focused on Insulation and Components. You will develop and optimize mechanical designs for transformers components, collaborating with global factories to meet IEC and other standards.

The role emphasizes simulation, verification, and tool development in ANSYS, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, cost efficiency, and knowledge sharing across international teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D or engineering.
• Solid mechanical knowledge in electrical insulators or HV components.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Experience with IEC/IEEE/ISO/ASTM standards and FE analysis using ANSYS.

Responsibilities

• Establish mechanical simulation models for transformer components (bushings, tap-changers).
• Conduct static/dynamic mechanics, seismic, short-circuit, and thermal-structure analyses.
• Provide technical support for R&D, testing, and mass production.
• Develop internal tools for mechanical evaluation and support global teams.
• Collaborate with supply chain to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct design reviews and implement modifications to improve quality.
• Lead projects or play a key role in teams; mentor junior colleagues.
• Act as SME and share knowledge to foster collaboration.
