Job summary

Astek is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer for Java/API to join a client project in the banking sector. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office weekly.

The candidate will design, implement and maintain automated API tests and integration tests across REST and SOAP services, with focus on backend validation and data verification. The position demands at least 6 years in test automation, strong Java skills (17+), experience with RESTAssured, JUnit 5, SQL, Kafka, and CI/CD tools

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience in test automation.
• Very good knowledge of Java (17+) and OOP/Clean Code.
• Hands-on experience with RESTAssured and JUnit 5.
• Good knowledge of REST API and experience with SOAP/WSDL.
• Experience testing backend, API and integration processes.
• Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
• Experience with Kafka or other asynchronous communication solutions.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD, especially Jenkins and/or Bamboo.
• Experience with Allure, Jira and/or qTest.
• Fluent English (B2/C1).
• Able to share knowledge and mentor less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

• Project, create and maintain automated tests for API, integrations and data flows.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks.
• Create regression tests and integrate them with CI/CD processes.
• Test REST API and SOAP/WSDL.
• Automate and test integration processes, including asynchronous flows and Kafka integrations.
• Verify backend data/processes using SQL.
• Analyze test results and prepare reports and execution evidence.
• Collaborate with Developers, Analysts, Product Owners, and QA teams.
• Support and develop Automation First approach.
• Utilize AI and GitHub Copilot to boost automation efficiency.
• Mentor junior team members by sharing knowledge and experience.
