Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and AI-facing integrations. You will work on a durable replayable event log, workers translating events into ITSM actions, and a platform that supports multiple access patterns.

Design interfaces with OpenAPI/AsyncAPI, implement resilient architecture, and collaborate with global teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Python production experience; typed, tested services and APIs.
• Event-driven and asynchronous architecture with messaging, durable logs, retries and at-least-once delivery.
• REST API design and OpenAPI experience; willing to work to AsyncAPI contracts.
• Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development; fluency with AI coding agents."
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging across distributed systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to defend architectural trade-offs.
• Eager to learn and evaluate new tools carefully.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy and durable replayable logs.
• Design and maintain interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create a correlation layer turning signals into ITSM actions with exactly-once semantics.
• Design resilience mechanisms when upstream platforms degrade or fail.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, streams.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling.
• Modernize legacy integrations without disrupting current consumers.
• Own quality: code reviews, testing, observability, production support.
• Participate in squad ceremonies and customer-facing meetings.
• Take ownership of components/projects and document significant decisions.
