Job summary

Sowelo Consulting in Poland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high-volume, event-driven back-end services and data pipelines for their core platform.

In this role, you will lead architectural decisions, optimize relational databases, contribute end-to-end across Python and React/TypeScript, champion AI-first engineering practices, and elevate team standards through mentorship and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Deep Python expertise for back-end services (Django/DRF, FastAPI or equivalent).
• Strong relational database skills: design, indexing, migrations (PostgreSQL/Aurora, MySQL, or Oracle).
• Asynchronous and event-driven experience: queues or streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ) and background processing (Celery or similar).
• Cloud experience, AWS preferred (or Azure/GCP with willingness to work in AWS).
• Design/tech leadership: driven features from ambiguity to delivery and operation.
• Experience with React and TypeScript or other modern frameworks; willingness to work in React.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own Python back-end services powering APIs, document workflows, and data pipelines.
• Lead architectural design, trade-off analysis, and design documents with the team.
• Develop event-driven processing: streams, queues, and scheduled jobs for high-volume workflows.
• Contribute front-end work in React/TypeScript to ship features end-to-end.
• Model and optimize relational data: schema design, queries, migrations, and partitioning.
• Improve reliability and observability: on-call, incident response, and reducing alert noise.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and promote code quality through reviews and pairing.
• Collaborate with product, UX, QA to translate requirements into maintainable solutions.
• Apply AI-first practices: tooling, prompts, skills, and guardrails in delivery loop.
