Job summary

SPS Commerce Poland Sp. z.o.o. in Warsaw is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high-volume back-end services and data pipelines for the Fulfillment platform. You will own APIs, document workflows, and data processing.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, collaborate with product and QA, and contribute front-end work with React/TypeScript. The role emphasizes AI-first engineering and observable, reliable systems in a hybrid Warsaw office.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems ownership.
• Deep Python expertise for back-end services (Django/DRF, FastAPI).
• Strong relational database skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle).
• Asynchronous/event-driven experience (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ).
• Cloud experience, AWS preferred.
• Design/technical leadership driving features from requirements to delivery and operation.
• Experience with React and TypeScript or similar front-end frameworks; willingness to work in React.
• Production ownership including on-call, debugging live incidents, and reliability improvements.
• Solid engineering hygiene: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews.
• Agile/Scrum in a distributed, multi-time-zone environment.
• Professional working proficiency in English; strong AI tooling usage.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own back-end services in Python powering the Fulfillment platform.
• Lead design work for non-trivial features; propose architectures and drive decisions to closure.
• Build and evolve event-driven processing (streams/queues) for high-volume EDI workflows.
• Contribute across stack with React/TypeScript front-end work to ship features end-to-end.
• Model and optimize relational data: schema design, indexing, migrations.
• Improve reliability and observability; participate in on-call and incident response.
• Mentor mid-level engineers; promote code quality and good engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product, UX, QA, and other teams on cross-service dependencies.
• Apply AI-first approaches; promote tooling, prompts, and guardrails in delivery.
