Job summary

SoftwareMind in Poland is seeking a Senior Python Software Engineer to design and evolve backend services for a data‑intensive platform that supports a UK‑based insurance partner. You'll contribute to scalable data ingestion, REST APIs and high‑performance data processing, shaping the platform and engineering practices.

The role involves building cloud‑native solutions on AWS/Azure, Docker and CI/CD, collaborating with engineers on data modelling, system design and IaC, and mentoring juniors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Python development.
• Strong experience building backend applications and REST APIs.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building data-intensive applications or working with large-scale data processing.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and clean code principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python.
• Build scalable solutions for processing, integrating and transforming large datasets.
• Contribute to cloud-native architecture, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
• Collaborate with engineers on system design, data modelling and platform improvements.
• Improve software quality through code reviews, automated testing and mentoring less experienced developers.
