Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (PLC Developer) to design, develop, and maintain PLC control logic for advanced automation. You will collaborate with engineering and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration and high reliability.

The role reports to the Lead of VCS Automation. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in PLC-based automation and strong JScript/IEC 61131-3 experience, plus hands-on familiarity with EtherCAT, CANBus, PROFIBUS, and OPC UA.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience developing software for PLC-based automation systems.
Strong experience with JScript and IEC 61131-3 languages.

Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining PLC control logic to support automation projects.
Designing automation solutions meeting customer requirements for reliability and safety.
Integrating PLC systems with industrial networks and applications.
Testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation systems for efficient operation.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer projects.
Providing technical support and resolving automation issues promptly.
Promoting code quality through documentation and reviews.
Mentoring junior engineers and promoting continuous learning.
Maintaining safety standards in line with company policies.
