Job summary

Zebra Technologies is seeking an Advanced SW/FW Platform Engineer (Level 4) to define the technical direction and system architecture of our edge-based smart cameras. You will lead platform bring-up, define Yocto layers, and architect NPU orchestration.

This role emphasizes high-level architecture, hardware/software co-design, and mentoring, with a focus on agentic AI tooling to elevate code quality and team output.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Linux kernel, bootloaders, and systemd services.
• Strong architecture skills in modern C++ for high-performance systems.
• Experience bringing up complex platforms and hardware/software co-design.
• Ability to lead through ambiguous, multi-disciplinary challenges.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Set the architectural vision for our Linux-based smart camera platforms and design robust platform management services in modern C++.
• System Bring-up Strategy: Lead complex platform bring-up initiatives, defining custom Yocto layers and BSP architectures.
• Advanced NPU Orchestration: Architect the infrastructure that integrates on-board NPUs for real-time processing.
• Process Innovation: Pioneer agentic AI coding methodologies to scale team output and code quality.
• Cross-Functional Debugging: Collaborate to diagnose hardware/software boundary issues using debug tools.
