Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Piping Engineer to ensure regulatory code compliance and quality of piping deliverables. You will resolve technical issues and guide piping teams while supervising related tasks.

As a successful candidate, you will ensure health and safety standards, prepare calculations, manage deliverables and budgets, coordinate with other disciplines, participate in HAZOPs, and mentor junior staff to uphold Hatch standards and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years piping engineering experience with a minimum of 3 years project engineering experience.
• Strong technical skills and ability to motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
• Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies.
• Good understanding of systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline.
• Thorough understanding of Hatch Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) policy and standards.
• Sound knowledge of piping codes and standards applicable to the project.
• Sound technical knowledge of piping engineering, including specs, calculations, P&ID development, line sizing, material selection, isolation requirements, valve selection and requisitioning of piping components.
• Familiarity with pipe stress analysis and advanced piping systems.
• Well developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Site experience in a piping technical role and experience in reviewing vendor drawings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all piping work designed or supplied complies with relevant health and safety standards and project client standards.
• Prepare and approve design calculations.
• Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time-based functions to facilitate planning and budgeting.
• Manage and review piping work packages to meet budgets and schedules; take corrective action when needed.
• Prepare, review and approve piping technical deliverables.
• Assist in development of project-specific procedures.
• Coordinate piping system requirements to achieve project results and monitor effectiveness.
• Ensure coordination between piping and other disciplines as design evolves.
• Participate in quality audits and maintain technical documentation.
• Participate in HAZOP reviews.
• Provide input to proposal and man-hour estimates.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and ensure Hatch standards are met.
• Ensure resolution of piping issues throughout project lifecycle.
• Promote Hatch safety culture and professional practices.
