Job summary

CD PROJEKT RED in Warsaw seeks a Senior Cinematic Open World Creature Animator for a 2-year fixed-term contract to bring dynamic NPCs, animals, and environmental interactions to life within immersive gameplay.

You will collaborate with Open World, Gameplay, and Technical Animation teams to craft routines, behaviors, and systemic events using motion capture and keyframe techniques to support narrative-driven worldbuilding.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in animation for games or real-time apps.
• Strong animation reel showing ambient behaviors, creature locomotion, and NPC routines.
• Solid understanding of animation principles emphasizing realism and variety.
• Experience with keyframe animation for animals or creatures and with motion capture data.
• Familiarity with real-time game engines, blueprints/state machines, and animation systems.

Responsibilities

• Being a game developer first—consider how animations look, feel, and respond in dynamic gameplay.
• Own animation content for a creature and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver immersive open world experiences.
• Deliver work aligned with artistic and narrative direction beyond traditional cinematics.
• Create final high-quality animation assets for creature routines and environmental interactions using motion capture and keyframes.
• Collaborate daily with Cinematic Animation Lead and other departments to serve gameplay and worldbuilding goals.
• Estimate time for tasks and deliver on schedule with implementation detail and accuracy.
• Prototype and iterate animations quickly to test systemic interactions.
• Propose creative and technical solutions to systemic animation challenges and mentor junior animators.
