Job summary

N-iX is seeking a Senior/Lead DevOps / Observability Engineer to lead a short-term migration of monitoring from New Relic to Grafana for a high-traffic application. You will be embedded with the client’s engineering team, owning the migration end-to-end, building dashboards, alerts, and SLIs/SLOs, and integrating APAC/Canada-friendly time-zone coordination.

Expect a 3-month engagement with potential extension.

Qualifications

5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or observability engineering in cloud-based production environments.
Strong hands-on Grafana experience: dashboards, alerts, and data sources.
Practical New Relic experience and ability to translate to Grafana-stack.
Experience with Prometheus, Loki/Tempo, ELK, and OpenTelemetry.
AWS infrastructure expertise (EC2, EKS/ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, S3) and Terraform.

Responsibilities

Assess existing New Relic monitoring for the in-scope app (dashboards, alerts, SLIs/SLOs, logs, traces).
Map New Relic constructs to Grafana-stack equivalents and rebuild dashboards/alerts.
Instrument and configure AWS infra to send metrics/logs/traces to Grafana stack; use OpenTelemetry where applicable.
Ensure secure network connectivity between AWS workloads and Grafana; validate data flow.
Run parallel monitoring, verify data accuracy, and perform safe cutover with minimal production risk.
Document the new setup and hand over with runbooks and progress updates.
