Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. in Kraków/Gdańsk, Poland, is seeking a Senior Node.js Developer to design and build scalable microservices, REST APIs, and frontend solutions.

You will analyze legacy systems, define modernization architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid role (3 days in office). Role requires 5+ years in software engineering, strong Node.js/JavaScript skills, TypeScript familiarity, and deep AWS experience (EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, CloudWatch).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including Node.js development.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript with practical experience in Node.js.
• Demonstrated experience in designing microservices architecture and building REST APIs.
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Firehose, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
• Knowledge of database technologies including DynamoDB and PostgreSQL (DB2 legacy experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Understanding of CI/CD, testing practices, and tools such as Cucumber and API testing frameworks.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Excellent communication, client-facing skills, and the ability to manage ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable front-end applications, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Analyze existing legacy applications and define a target state architecture for modernization.
• Implement and optimize solutions within AWS cloud environment.
• Ensure performance, security, and reliability across applications and services.
• Work collaboratively in an Agile setting with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to code reviews and establish engineering best practices.
• Use testing frameworks and monitoring tools to maintain product quality and stability.
• Communicate with clients and internal teams, providing technical insights and recommendations.
