Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our team focused on planning, deploying, and maintaining hardware for global data centers. You will monitor and maintain data centers, networks, and servers worldwide while collaborating with data center Network Operations Centers via phone, email, and portals.

You will deploy and repair servers, storage, routers, and switches, install hardware on-site and remotely, and manage hardware decommissioning and migrations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in network infrastructure
• Hands-on hardware experience in a NOC environment
• Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment
• Strong troubleshooting skills in large-scale data centers
• Understanding of Linux system and server administration
• Professional problem solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

Our Network Infrastructure team is responsible for planning, deploying, and maintaining hardware. We work with on-site technicians, maintain equipment availability based on demand, manage inventory, and retire equipment. We look after hardware infrastructure management, including cabinet planning, equipment tracking, documentation, and firmware upgrades.

As a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will oversee operations in our global data centers. You will monitor and maintain our data centers, networks, and servers worldwide. You will also interact directly with data center Network Operations Centers via phone, email, and web portals.

As a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Deploying and repairing servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware
• Installing hardware, cabling, firmware, and software both on-site and remotely
• Managing hardware decommission projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction
• Shipping and receiving networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability
• Performing project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades
• Coordinating data center deployments from hardware requests to rack design

• Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
• Have experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience
