Job summary

Akamai's Network Engineering team is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead design, implementation, and automation of a global network infrastructure powering Akamai's products and services. You will develop core network templates with Jinja2, work across multi-vendor environments including Juniper and Cisco, and advance data center fabrics, BGP routing, and EVPN/VXLAN.

This role emphasizes scalable, secure networking and hands-on troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing.
• Experience with data center architectures like CLOS, EVPN/VXLAN.
• Experience with multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco) and routing platforms like BIRD, FRR, Cumulus.
• Proficient in network automation using Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining our global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for complex network issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and analysis.
• Creating and maintaining clear documentation & procedures.
