Job summary

SmartRecruiters is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Chat Group, building next-gen agentic AI for recruiting. You’ll design scalable ML/NLP systems, integrate LLMs into workflows, and ship production-ready features that improve the candidate experience.

Work with cross-functional teams across Europe and North America in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment, focusing on reliability, performance, and measurable impact on hiring outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in CS/ML/AI or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing and deploying machine learning systems in production.
• Proven NLP techniques, LLM fine-tuning, and model evaluation.
• Strong Python programming and solid software engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement agentic workflows with LLMs, reasoning, and data pipelines.
• Lead design and development of ML/NLP products from ideation to production.
• Drive experiments for agentic reasoning and autonomous system design.
• Collaborate with product/engineering to integrate intelligent agents into recruiting workflows.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices for scalable ML systems.
• Contribute to NLP/AI stack focusing on reliability and personalization.
• Identify opportunities to automate and innovate within chat-based systems.
