Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer for its Kraków team on a fixed-term contract. You will independently lead materials engineering activities, define investigation approaches and drive root-cause analyses across products, collaborating with global teams and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include planning complex material investigations, selecting analytical methods, and delivering evidence-based technical recommendations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Materials Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Several years of relevant professional experience in Materials Engineering or materials lab/failure analysis.
• Strong hands-on experience in materials characterization and laboratory investigations.
• Experience with SEM, FTIR, microscopy, cross-sections, CT/X-ray and surface characterization.
• Ability to independently select analytical methods and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Excellent written and spoken English and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan and perform materials laboratory investigations using SEM, FTIR, microscopy, CT/X-ray and surface tests.
• Select appropriate analytical methods and define the investigation approach.
• Analyze and correlate results and translate findings into engineering recommendations.
• Lead material-related failure analysis and root cause investigations and coordinate inputs from stakeholders.
• Lead Materials Engineering activities for assigned products or projects.
• Recommend materials and material systems considering performance, manufacturing, cost and supply chain.
• Lead material qualification activities and support supplier reviews and changes.
• Develop and review material specifications and technical reports.
• Contribute to innovation and cost optimization.
