Job summary

VB Spine is seeking a Senior Lead Accountant to oversee general, intercompany, and treasury accounting for Poland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The role ensures accurate reporting, statutory compliance, and strong controls in a dynamic international environment.

The candidate will manage closings, asset accounting, payroll integration, and audits while driving continuous improvement of accounting processes and compliance with local and group policies.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting and finance.
• 3–5 years in a similar role, ideally in an international multi-entity environment.
• Strong accounting expertise with knowledge of Polish statutory reporting and tax.
• Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of JDE 9.2 preferred.
• Proficiency in Polish, English and German at a professional level.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee general, intercompany, and treasury accounting for multiple entities.
• Manage period-end closings, ensuring complete and accurate financial reporting.
• Supervise fixed asset accounting, CIP tracking, and inventories.
• Oversee payroll accounting and payroll data integration.
• Review VAT and indirect tax returns per local regulations.
• Analyze general ledger, including provisions and equity, for balance sheet accuracy.
• Calculate monthly and annual provisions, including bonuses and vacation accruals.
• Supervise year-end adjustments and prepare statutory statements.
• Coordinate statutory, tax, internal, and financial audits with timely responses.
• Ensure compliance with group policies and internal controls.
• Drive process improvements and reporting efficiency.
• Authorize electronic tax filings and supplier payments.

As a Senior Lead Accountant , you will oversee general accounting activities for Poland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, and robust accounting controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls within a dynamic international environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and oversee general accounting, intercompany accounting, and treasury activities for assigned entities.
• Manage periodic closing processes, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial reporting.
• Review and supervise fixed asset accounting, including capital investment project (CIP) tracking and physical asset inventories.
• Oversee payroll accounting, paid leave entries and the integration of payroll data into the accounting system.
• Review and validate VAT and indirect tax returns, ensuring compliance with local regulations and reporting requirements.
• Analyze general ledger accounts, including provisions, fixed assets, and equity, and ensure accurate balance sheet reporting.
• Calculate and review monthly and annual provisions, including bonuses, commissions, utilities, and vacation accruals.
• Supervise inventory accounting and year-end adjustments in preparation for statutory financial statements.
• Coordinate and support statutory, internal, tax, and financial audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements across all activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization of accounting processes, financial controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Authorize electronic tax filings and payments, including VAT and other recurring taxes, and approve supplier payment batches

What You Bring:

• Degree in accounting and finance
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within an accounting firm or an international, multi-entity environment.
• Strong accounting expertise, with solid knowledge of statutory reporting and tax regulations, particularly in Poland; knowledge of German accounting and tax requirements is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably JDE 9.2, or experience working with other enterprise accounting platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Power Query.
• Professional-level proficiency in Polish, English, and German with the ability to work effectively in a professional business environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines as well as strong in analytical and numerical skills.
• Proactive, curious, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to perform well under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
