Job summary

Luxoft is seeking a senior Java developer to join our client’s team in Kraków and contribute to back-end services for an investment banking environment. You will design, build, and maintain scalable APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, with a focus on clean code and performance.

You will work with Oracle or PostgreSQL, Docker and Kubernetes, and collaborate in an agile Scrum/Kanban setup, delivering high‑quality software and participating in reviews, testing, and deployment in a

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional Java experience, including long-term projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and building microservices.
• Experience in RESTful API design.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or Oracle, including strong SQL skills and query and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux, including shell and command-line tools.
• Experience in automated testing of Java applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
• Good communication skills and the ability to state requirements clearly to other teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring.
• Implement data access using Hibernate and SQL, with attention to performance and maintainability.
• Analyze and tune SQL queries and database performance on Oracle (preferred) or PostgreSQL.
• Define and consume RESTful APIs, clearly communicating requirements and constraints across teams.
• Translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Apply clean code principles and back-end best practices across the codebase.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration).
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban), including refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and tooling.
• Work closely with QA, product managers, and architects to ensure high-quality, business-aligned deliveries.
• Support and improve existing applications in a fast-paced, enterprise investment-banking environment.
