Job summary

Xebia seeks a Senior Java Developer with Italian to join our integration-focused teams across Azure and enterprise systems. You will build backend services, REST APIs, and event-driven patterns within a distributed Azure environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Java, Spring Boot, Azure SQL, and hands-on Docker/Kubernetes, with English and Italian at B2 level and willingness to travel to Italy. Work from the EU region with a valid work permit is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11+ and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Azure SQL or other SQL databases.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Azure Event Hub or Kafka.
• Experience working with enterprise integrations and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Experience with Git and Azure DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience using AI-powered assistants to improve software delivery.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture.
• English (B2) and Italian (B2) proficiency.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Italy.

Senior Java Developer with Italian (Integration & Azure)

Your profile:

• 5+ years of professional experience in Java development,

• practical experience with Azure SQL or other SQL databases,
• experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Azure Event Hub or Kafka,
• experience working with enterprise integrations and distributed systems,
• good knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger,
• experience with Git and Azure DevOps,
• hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes,
• practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,
• good understanding of microservices architecture,
• good command of English (min. B2) and Italian (min. B2),
• willingness to travel occasionally to Italy to visit the client.

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

Experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work.

• Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
