Job summary

The City of Dallas is hiring a Senior Investigator to handle sensitive and high-profile personnel investigations within the Police Department. You will manage complex cases, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare comprehensive reports while upholding impartiality and high ethical standards.

Work includes testifying when needed, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with HR and legal teams to ensure consistent procedures and transparent accountability across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Resources, or Public Administration.
• Twenty years of law enforcement experience with thirteen years in lead investigations.
• Ability to pass an intensive background investigation and drug test.
• No felony or Class A/B misdemeanor convictions within required periods.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and manages complex investigations into misconduct, discrimination, harassment, policy violations and other sensitive personnel matters.
• Plans and executes investigative strategies: gather/analyze evidence, interview parties, prepare detailed reports.
• Maintains accurate confidential case files in compliance with legal/organizational requirements.
• Testifies in administrative hearings, civil service proceedings, or court as required.
• Mentors junior investigators and participates in training on workplace conduct and investigative procedures.
