Job summary

XTB online investing in Poland is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to maintain and scale our core on-prem and hybrid infrastructure, spanning VMware, Linux environments, and critical database clusters.

You will automate workflows with Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git; participate in on-call rotations, support DR/BCP, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across security, development, and operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in infrastructure engineering (on-premise / data center / hybrid).
• Deep VMware vSphere and vCenter knowledge and troubleshooting.
• Operational experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB clusters.
• Linux administration (Debian/Ubuntu) with performance tuning.
• Experience with SAN storage concepts and multipathing.
• Backup platforms experience (Commvault preferred).
• Scripting and automation with Ansible, Bash or Python and Git.
• HA architectures and BCP/DR understanding.
• Willingness for on-call rotations and travel to data centers.
• Strong English, min. B2.

Responsibilities

• Administering and hardening Linux servers (Ubuntu/Debian) across production and staging environments.
• Overseeing enterprise backup and recovery solutions (Commvault) — designing retention policies, automation, and DR tests.
• Automating operational workflows and standardizing infrastructure using Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git (IaC mindset).
• Supporting BCP/DR initiatives.
• Participating in a structured on-call rotation to guarantee high availability of mission-critical systems.
• Collaborating with cross-functional platform, security, and development teams.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team. You will be responsible for maintaining, automating, and scaling our core on-prem and hybrid infrastructure — spanning VMware virtualization, enterprise storage, Linux environments, and critical database clusters.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering (on-premise / data center / hybrid environments).
• Deep technical knowledge of VMware vSphere and vCenter administration and troubleshooting.
• Operational experience with database clusters (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) — maintenance, replication, backup/restore, and health monitoring.
• Strong practical administration skills in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) — performance diagnostics, security hardening, and log analysis.
• Proven experience with enterprise storage concepts (SAN, zoning, multipathing, performance tuning).
• Practical experience with enterprise backup platforms (Commvault preferred or equivalent).
• Hands-on scripting and automation skills: Ansible, Bash or Python, and version control (Git).
• Solid understanding of high-availability architectures and BCP/DR frameworks.
• Readiness to participate in paid on-call rotations and occasional travel to data centers.
• Good technical English (spoken and written, min. B2 level).

Nice to Have

• Experience in high-availability, low-latency environments (e.g., fintech, trading, telecommunications).
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible AWX, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI, e.g., Dell VxRail).
• Awareness of regulatory and security standards (e.g., NIS2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Industry certifications: VMware (VCP), Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE), or storage/backup platforms.
