Job summary

Cast AI is hiring for backend engineers who design, build, and operate Go services used by teams and customers. You will own features end-to-end, debug trust-critical issues, and collaborate across product and engineering to tackle complex scaling and security challenges.

The role emphasizes Kubernetes expertise, cloud pricing awareness, and a startup mindset in a remote-first, international team. Equity options and fast-paced delivery are offered.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean architecture choices.
• Production experience with Go is strongly preferred; other languages acceptable with strong systems programming skills.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, or billing at scale.
• Good API design practices: versioning, backward compatibility, auth, idempotency, async patterns.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills: query profiling, index design, and database performance tuning beyond ORM usage.
• Experience operating systems under high load and fixing bottlenecks.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience: core concepts and deployments.
• Experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows.
• You've personally driven a complex project end-to-end.
• Excellent English, both verbal and written.
• Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services in Go that customers and other teams depend on being correct.
• Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, testing, and production rollout.
• Debug complex production issues involving security, money, or trust-critical flows.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to solve problems beyond textbook solutions.
• Contribute to product direction and backlog – shape what gets built next.
