Senior General Ledger Accountant
Position responsible for supporting the completion of activities across Accounting, Consolidation and reporting in line with Corporate policies and standards, ensuring high quality accounting service and continuous improvement and contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities for selected business units.
Responsibilities
- Reconciling accounts and posting business transactions in accordance with accounting principles, US GAAP standards and reporting schedules to ensure the organization maintains complete and accurate financial information.
- Performing tasks independently and taking ownership of deliverables.
- Proactively identifying areas for improvement and initiating process enhancements.
- Responding to queries on accounting procedures by analyzing applicable accounting principles and regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and all relevant corporate and local regulations.
- Maintaining high internal customer satisfaction by delivering timely, high quality services while preserving confidentiality of financial information.
- Participating in continuous improvement activities and proposing ideas for process optimization and automation.
- Continuously developing professional knowledge and technical skills.
- Serving as a point of contact for inquiries within the scope of responsibilities and supporting internal and external audits.
- Maintaining internal control standards at the highest level.
- Reviewing accounting entries to detect potential discrepancies and errors and executing corrective actions.
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure accuracy and smoothness of accounting processes, and identifying and resolving cross‑functional process issues.
- Preparing and delivering training sessions for colleagues.
- Completing tasks and month‑end close activities on time.
- Communicating clearly and promptly with supervisors regarding absences, reporting deadlines and other matters requiring escalation.
Qualifications
- Higher education preferred in finance, accounting or economics (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting or finance functions (GL, fixed assets).
- Experience with internal process controls (knowledge of SOX is an advantage).
- Experience in process transformation is desirable.
- Very good command of English (minimum B2).
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and double‑entry bookkeeping.
