Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Java Engineer to work on large-scale corporate systems within a European public-sector environment. You will build secure, scalable applications across the full stack and contribute to cloud and CI/CD delivery.

You will mentor teammates, conduct design reviews, and collaborate with QA while applying security best practices and modern frontend technologies. Strong Java, Spring Boot, Docker/Kubernetes experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent EQF Level 6.
• 12+ years of professional IT experience.
• Strong Java backend experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate.
• Experience designing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in cloud deployments.
• Experience with AWS or Azure and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Excellent English or French at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end components.

• Design and secure RESTful APIs and web services.
• Apply security best practices for authentication and authorization.
• Perform unit/integration testing and production troubleshooting.

You will develop secure and scalable applications across the full stack, contribute to cloud and CI/CD delivery, support production stability, and provide technical guidance to other team members.

You will develop secure and scalable applications across the full stack, contribute to cloud and CI/CD delivery, support production stability, and provide technical guidance to other team members.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end application components
• Implement business logic, responsive user interfaces, APIs, and database integrations
• Design and secure RESTful APIs and web services
• Apply security best practices for validation, authentication, authorization, storage, logging, and monitoring
• Perform unit and integration testing, debugging, and production troubleshooting
• Deploy and manage applications using cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Monitor application stability and performance across lower environments
• Perform code reviews, mentoring, technical onboarding, and skills assessment
• Collaborate with QA teams and participate in requirements refinement and estimation
• Maintain technical documentation and high code-quality standards

Requirements

• University degree corresponding to EQF Level 6, typically a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• 12+ years of professional IT experience
• Strong Java backend experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST API development
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization
• Experience with WebLogic, JEE, and EJB
• Experience with AWS or Azure and cloud application deployment
• Experience designing and securing REST APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT
• Knowledge of Angular, React, Vue, or Bootstrap
• Experience with Maven, GitLab, Bamboo, Jenkins, Nexus, or similar build and CI/CD tools
• Experience with Jira, Git, Bitbucket, and wiki-based collaboration tools
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of SOA and service bus architectures
• Experience with Agile and Scrum
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito
• Experience with SonarQube, SonarLint, HP Fortify, or similar code analysis tools
• Experience with Apache Camel and Drools
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Amazon Q or Kiro
• Knowledge of system analysis and project management is an asset
• Strong mentoring, communication, and leadership skills
• English or French proficiency at B2 level or higher
