EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Data Software Engineer to join our expanding Data Practice, delivering diverse data ingestion, processing, and analytics across industries. You will work with Python/Scala/Java, Spark, Databricks, and Snowflake, collaborating with data scientists and IT teams in a fast-paced, hybrid environment in Poland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field.
• 5+ years experience with Big Data technologies in software development.
• Advanced knowledge of Python, Scala, or Java.
• Proficient with Spark and Databricks and/or Snowflake.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS.
• Demonstrated experience with big data models, databases, and tools.
• Strong understanding of data file formats like JSON, Parquet, Avro.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including Cassandra and MongoDB.
• Proficiency in data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent English communication (B2+).
• Nice-to-have: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Oozie, Airflow, HDFS, YARN.
• Experience with Kafka messaging.
• Production experience with search tech like Solr, OpenSearch, or Lucene.

Responsibilities

• Implement data ingestion from diverse sources using RDBMS, REST API, flat files, streams and time-series data.
• Process and transform data with Spark and cloud services.
• Implement project-specific business logic with primary data platform languages.
• Optimize data retrieval, develop dashboards, and validate data integrity.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and IT professionals.
• Provide leadership on Big Data best practices and tech trends.
• Maintain security and integrity of big data sources and platforms.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade big data systems and applications.
