Job summary

The Stepstone Group is seeking a senior Data Platform Engineer to provide technical leadership, shaping the direction of data, platform and infrastructure domains. You will collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers and Enterprise Architects to build scalable data platform capabilities that power analytics, AI and key business products.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer or equivalent senior IC leadership role.
• Strong background in data platforms, distributed systems and cloud-native architectures with cross-team influence.
• Expertise in AWS, Terraform, Kafka/MSK, Airflow, Glue or Spark for scalable data solutions.
• Experience with modern data ecosystems including data lakes/lakehouse architectures and Iceberg or similar formats.
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, cataloguing and observability tools (e.g. Datadog); DBT/AI-assisted engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical vision, roadmap, and architecture of the Data Platform.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and reusable patterns with Enterprise Architecture.
• Improve code quality, testing, observability, reliability, and operational practices.
• Guide teams through complex technical challenges, aiding planning and risk management.
• Mentor engineers and foster AI-assisted development and automation.
