Job summary

Sii Poland is seeking a Senior Data Migration Engineer to lead SQL Server to Snowflake migrations for a global client in the tobacco sector. You will develop Matillion pipelines, implement AI-assisted code conversion, automated testing, and data reconciliation from the outset.

You will migrate objects, optimize ELT pipelines, build data validation frameworks in Python, and collaborate on AI-driven code improvements while ensuring high-quality, scalable data migration outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in enterprise data warehouse development and maintenance.
• Expert in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) and Snowflake, incl. performance optimization and query tuning.
• Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to Snowflake or another cloud DW.
• Hands-on Snowflake with architecture and performance optimization knowledge.
• Strong Python skills for data engineering; Pandas and Pytest for testing and validation.
• Experience using AI coding assistants in professional development; ability to productionize AI-generated code.
• Advanced level of English.

Responsibilities

• Migrate database objects from SQL Server to Snowflake ensuring functional equivalence.
• Design and optimize Matillion ELT pipelines for Snowflake data loading and transformation.
• Build automated data validation and reconciliation frameworks in Python.
• Analyze and resolve data type conversions, SQL dialect differences, and transformation logic.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate code conversion and review AI-generated code.
• Tune Snowflake performance: virtual warehouses, clustering, and workloads.
• Create automated testing suites to validate migration results and prevent regressions.
• Implement CI/CD using Git and deployment pipelines across environments.
