Job summary

ZoomInfo is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to define and evolve the architecture, standards, and operating model for its enterprise data platform. You will lead critical architectural decisions across ingestion, storage, transformation, governance, and consumption, while mentoring engineers and raising the engineering bar.

You will work across engineering, analytics, platform, security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure data products and actionable insights at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or related.
• 5+ years designing and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Expertise in end-to-end system design, including requirements, tradeoffs, resilient architectures, and production delivery.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python/Java/Scala).
• Experience with Spark, Kafka, Flink, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift or equivalent.
• Engineering standards for testing, CI/CD, observability, IaC, reliability, and security.
• Proven ability to lead technical decisions across teams without direct authority.
• Exceptional communication and mentoring skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards across an organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Architecture and System Design for scalable platforms.
• Design end-to-end data systems from ingestion to consumption.
• Document architecture choices and tradeoffs for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Define reusable patterns for data engineering challenges and governance.
• Set engineering standards for data transformations, IaC, CI/CD, and testing.
• Mentor engineers and lead architecture reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver trusted data at scale.
