Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering team focused on cloud networking services including VPC, Cloud Firewall, NAT Gateway, and multi-cloud networking. You will design observability, lead incident responses, and drive reliability improvements across multiple regions.

You will mentor other SREs, build automation in Python or Go, and collaborate with teams to ensure robust, scalable operations for our cloud compute platform.

Qualifications

• Senior II SRE with cloud-scale experience across multiple regions.
• Strong Linux networking knowledge (routing, iptables/nftables, VXLAN, BGP).
• Experience designing SLO/SLI and observability platforms.
• Proficient in Python or Go for automation; Terraform or SaltStack familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee reliability strategy for VPC, Cloud Firewall, and NAT Gateway.
• Design and implement SLO/SLI frameworks for networking services.
• Design monitoring and observability with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Manage incident response for multi-service failures.
• Review design documents and input on operational risks and capacity.
• Build automation tooling in Python or Go.
• Provide technical mentorship to SRE II engineers.
• Provide incident response expertise with daytime coverage.
