payabl. is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join the Core Banking team and drive analysis of complex banking and payments initiatives across the platform.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations and Compliance to convert domain complexity into clear requirements for regulated delivery. Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in fintech, banking, or PI/EMI environments.
• Direct experience delivering core banking or payments capabilities.
• Deep knowledge of EU/UK banking domains, multi-currency IBANs, safeguarding client funds, nostro structures.
• Understanding payment rails and transaction lifecycles (SEPA, SWIFT, Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS).
• Experience translating regulatory/ compliance obligations into functional specs.
• Ability to work with Engineering on API contracts and system architecture.
• Strong BA toolkit: process modelling, requirements decomposition, acceptance criteria writing.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation across core banking domains (accounts, payments, cards, FX, fee management).
• Define end-to-end payment flows across EU/UK schemes including inbound/outbound/rejected transactions.
• Translate money movement and accounting logic into functional requirements with Finance and Engineering.
• Define requirements for settlement operations: safeguarding, segregation of funds, internal movements.
• Convert regulatory obligations into functional specs and acceptance criteria (KYC, AML, monitoring, licensing).
• Collaborate with Engineering on API design, integrations, and service dependencies.
• Break down large initiatives into structured artefacts with traceability from need to implementation.
• Coordinate UAT and stakeholder sign-off across Operations, Finance, Compliance, Product, Engineering.
• Identify gaps in processes and tooling (account management, fee config, monitoring workflows).
• Manage scope, dependencies, and alignment across parallel workstreams.
