Job summary

Trueplay seeks a Backend Technical Lead (Java) to guide the project’s technical direction, mentor developers, and ensure scalable, secure software solutions. You will drive architecture decisions, establish coding standards, and collaborate with Product Owners to align with business goals.

You will lead design reviews, promote automated testing and CI/CD, and coordinate with QA, DevOps, and infrastructure to deliver high-quality software. Hybrid setup with Warsaw/Kyiv hubs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development with Java.
• 2+ years as a team lead.
• Experience with the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with a NoSQL database: Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redshift, Bigtable, or BigQuery.
• Experience with a message broker: Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with one of the clouds: AWS or GCP.
• Experience with monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus.
• Performance optimization experience.

Responsibilities

• Defining the technical direction, setting coding standards, and establishing development best practices.
• Leading software system design and architecture for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborating with Product Owners, the Scrum Master, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with product vision.
• Mentoring team members and improving coding skills.
• Conducting regular code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Implementing automated testing, CI, and DevOps practices for high-quality delivery.
• Owning complex technical challenges and guiding the team to resolve impediments.
• Exploring new tools and technologies to improve efficiency and performance.
• Coordinating with QA, DevOps, and infrastructure for seamless delivery.
