Job summary

Surfshark’s Incogni engineering team is seeking a senior backend engineer who designs for growth and works across multiple technologies to power Incogni and Ironwall at scale.

You’ll help build a scalable, secure, and reliable service platform, owning complex initiatives from design to production while raising engineering standards across the team.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a backend engineer building production-grade platforms and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of software design patterns, microservice architecture, and RESTful API design principles.
• Confidence working with different programming languages and stacks, and picking the right tool for the problem.
• Experience working with databases, messaging systems, and distributed components.
• Comfort participating in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve high-traffic backend services with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Lead architectural decisions from domain modeling to deployment strategies.
• Drive evolution of the service platform with senior/lead engineers.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose architectural improvements for long-term growth.
• Own complex initiatives end-to-end, from design to production; write clean, well-tested code.

Join the Incogni engineering team and help us build the next-generation backend system that powers our products, Incogni and Ironwall, at scale. We’re looking for a senior backend engineer who thinks in systems, designs for growth, and is comfortable working across multiple technologies.

Our mission is to build a scalable, secure, and reliable service platform that supports rapid business growth and evolving product needs. You’ll work on core application systems and service architectures that sit at the heart of our platform.

IF YOU WANT TO:

• Design, build, and evolve high-traffic, business-critical backend services with a focus on scalability and reliability;
• Lead and influence architectural decisions - from domain modeling and service boundaries to infrastructure and deployment strategies;
• Drive the evolution of our next-generation service platform together with senior and lead engineers;
• Identify system bottlenecks and propose architectural improvements to support long-term growth;
• Own complex technical initiatives end-to-end, from design to production;
• Write clean, well-tested code while raising engineering standards across the team.
