Job summary

Affirm’s Identity team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to turn complex problems into reliable backend systems. You’ll design across boundaries, own quarterly goals, and drive improvements in performance, availability, and scale while mentoring others.

You’ll write high-quality code in Python and Kotlin, work with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, and help shape technical direction for international expansion across Poland and other markets.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for delivery of significant feature with an elegant design.
• Ability to make large codebase changes safely with tooling and practices.
• Proactive growth, seeking feedback from team, manager and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and mentoring teammates.
