PROJECT

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a project in the hosting technologies domain. You’ll work on a distributed Python-based backend platform, the core component of our infrastructure. The role combines hands-on coding, defining functional and non-functional requirements, and designing new solutions from scratch. This is a technically challenging environment, with a fast onboarding process and full remote flexibility.

You’ll work primarily with Python, but this is not a typical web-backend position. The ideal candidate is someone who understands system-level development, knows how Linux works under the hood, and can design and build backend components that integrate deeply with the OS and network layer.

This is a highly technical role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems, rather than relying on managed cloud services.

YOU WILL

• Develop and enhance a Python-based distributed backend for a large-scale hosting platform
• Design and maintain system-level components
• Create architecture for new modules and improve existing ones
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and infrastructure issues (last-line production support)
• Support CI/CD and containerization processes (Docker, Kubernetes, LXC)
• Collaborate with the engineering team to define requirements and shape the technical roadmap

MUST HAVE

• 5–7 years of experience in backend software engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python
• Strong knowledge of Linux (administration, architecture, troubleshooting)
• Proficiency in at least one additional backend language — e.g. C, C++, Perl, Go, Lua, etc.
• Experience with distributed systems and backend architectures
• Solid knowledge of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis)
• Understanding of and ability to write automated tests
• Hands-on experience with some of the following:
  • Kubernetes, Docker, RabbitMQ, Zookeeper, Kafka
  • Web & mail servers: Apache, Nginx, Postfix, Dovecot, LDAP
  • CI/CD tools: Git, GitLab, Jenkins
• Good understanding of TCP/IP protocols and network communication
• Ability to work independently and debug complex production issues
• Fluent Polish and good English

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with ZeroMQ or other distributed messaging systems
• Knowledge of hosting or ISP environments
• Familiarity with IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, OpenStack, Vault)
• Understanding of low-level OS mechanisms, such as processes, cgroups, and networking
• Willingness to work outside of fully-managed cloud ecosystems
