Job summary

Camunda is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to own automated reliability testing and chaos engineering for Camunda 8. You’ll work to strengthen the platform by safely breaking and rebuilding components, guiding product direction, and learning new technologies with a collaborative team that embodies FAITH values.

You’ll explore innovative testing approaches, integrate new tooling, and share insights across teams while advocating user-centric reliability and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering (Java).
• Proven drive to experiment, learn new tech, and conduct automated reliability testing.
• Deep enthusiasm for improving performance and fault-tolerance in production systems.
• Autonomous, pragmatic problem-solving skills and ability to influence others.
• Willingness to use Camunda products and approach reliability from a user’s perspective.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute automated chaos experiments and reliability tests.
• Investigate, root-cause, and debug failures or performance regressions in Java-based products.
• Improve load testing, chaos engineering, and observability infrastructure.
• Introduce tooling and approaches for reliability testing to drive measurable improvements.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering teams and influence roadmaps based on findings.
