Job summary

Cloudinary is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build agent-facing infrastructure and reshape the platform for agent callers. You will own MCP servers and an agent-first CLI, delivering ergonomic, reliable APIs and toolchains for AI agents and LLMs.

The role involves working across a polyglot backend—Node.js/TypeScript, Ruby/Rails, and Go—while collaborating with Product and Discoverability to improve observability and performance.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of production API/backend experience.
• Strong in Node.js/TypeScript; comfortable with Ruby/Rails and Go.
• Deep API/design fundamentals: auth, versioning, idempotency.
• Interest in agents/LLMs and evolving software for non-human callers.
• Distributed systems and cloud instincts (AWS or equivalent).
• Bias toward ownership and delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Strong written communication for machine consumers.

Responsibilities

• Build surfaces agents call directly: provisioning, auth, credentials, identity.
• Own MCP servers and an agent-first CLI for reliable agent tooling.
• Harden the agent media path for non-human callers and reliable ops.
• Make agent behavior measurable through instrumentation and signals.
• Work across a polyglot backend: Node/TypeScript, Ruby/Rails, Go.
• Ship, measure, iterate with cross-functional collaboration.
